Rhabdodon (meaning "fluted tooth") is a genus of ornithopod dinosaur that lived in Europe approximately 70–66 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous. It is similar in build to a very robust "hypsilophodont" (non-iguanodont ornithopod), though all modern phylogenetic analyses find this ("Hypsilophodontitidae") to be an unnatural grouping, and Rhabdodon to be a basal member of Iguanodontia.

"Pod's Travels"[]

The mainland species of Rhabdodon are first seen feeding alongside titanosaurs. The herd appears again after a tremor, stampeding towards the beach and forcing a pack of Pyroraptors there as well. While they are on the beach it is hit by a tsunami, likely killing many of them.

Errors[]

  • The tail of the Rhabdodon is far too slim to actually be useful to the animal in balancing or defending itself.
  • The Rhabdodon, along with the Dwarf Rhabdodon on Hateg Island, are shown running on all fours. In reality, Rhabdodon were bipedal when running.
  • In a narration error, the Rhabdodon is called Iguanodon (a genus that lived 47 million years ago).

Trivia[]

  • Though the creature's design greatly resembles Rhabdodon, and the Dinoviewer from the Discovery website refers to them as Rhabdodon at one point, in the episode, both the mainland and dwarf variants are erroneously referred to as Iguanodon.
